Here’s the thing though, you’re saying that their “two biggest releases for the year are remakes” that’s just factually wrong. And you seem to be deciding what’s big based on your personal preferences rather than looking at each games sales potential. Star Fox series Star Fox-2.99m Star Fox 64-4.00m Star Fox Adventures-1.82m Star Fox Assault-less than 1m Star Fox Command-less than 1m Star Fox 64 3D-1.07m Star Fox Zero-less than 1m Mario Tennis series Mario Tennis (N64)-2.32m Mario Tennis (GBC)-1.18m Mario Power Tennis-1.16m Mario Tennis: Power Tour-less than 1m Mario Tennis Open-1.58m Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash-less than 1m Mario Tennis Aces-4.50m Yoshi Series Yoshi’s Island (SNES)-4.12m Yoshi’s Story-2.85m Yoshi’s Island (GBA)-2.83m Yoshi Topsy Turvy-less than 1m Yoshi Touch & Go-less than 1m Yoshi’s Island DS-3.36m Yoshi’s New Island-2.06m Yoshi’s Woolly World-1.57m Yoshi’s Crafted World-3.35m Fire Emblem series Before Awakening-all under 1m Awakening-2.37m Fates-3.09m Echoes-1.00m Three Houses-4.12m Engage-1.68m Splatoon Series Splatoon-4.95m Splatoon 2-13.60m Splatoon 3-11.96m Switch Sports-18.32m Pokopia-over 4 million Zelda updated ports/remakes Ocarina of Time 3D-6.44m Majora’s Mask 3D-3.46m Wind Waker HD-2.37m Twilight Princess HD-1.17m Link’s Awakening-6.63m Skyward Sword HD-4.15m To summarize, Nintendo currently has 8 exclusives scheduled to release this year for Switch 2 Mario Tennis, Yoshi, Star Fox & Fire Emblem are all franchises that have sold over 4 million at their best but under 1 million at their worst. Assuming that they all review favorably and since they’re not releasing on a dead/dying console, they should all sell in the 2-5 million range. As for the other titles, Pokopia did over 4 million in a month and should be an evergreen title. Splatoon Raiders is hard to guess, will it have the same appeal as Splat 2/3 which each did over 12 million or will it be treated like a smaller, side release? Even if it has a large drop from its predecessor, Sports Resort should be a big seller. Considering how well OoT 3D & Link’s Awakening remake each sold over 6 million, a full fledged OoT remake should do even higher. All four of these titles have potential to sell 10+ million. |
