Financially, Switch wins.
Regarding games, PS2 wins.

I'm curious in your perspective on how does Switch win financially?

Let's even go with the PS2 slim when it was released 4yrs after the original, at $149US (approx $250US in today's cost) and even as low as $99 on sale, and don't forget PS2 had really affordable games with the Greatest Hits.  Nintendo didn't have their Player's Choice and still to this day many of their launch Switch 1 games are still full price.

I think ArtX means Switch is the greater financial success. Not only has Nintendo made a lot on the hardware but digital purchases of games and DLC plus NSO and other income streams have made crazy money. PS2 had no digital distribution and no internet subscription at the system level.

As far as value, PS2 got really cheap years in and Greatest Hits and such for some previously full price titles. PS2 was more affordable for a lot of its life, so it was financially more appealing to consumers. Also, if you got a PS2 you didn't need a separate DVD player if you were fine using the PS2.

But of course, entry level DVD players in many regions around the time of the launch of PS2 were about 100 bucks/100 quid or cheaper than a PS2. If you had little care for PS2 and PS1 games, you'd be smart to save your money and get a cheap DVD player. But if you were at least moderately interested in PlayStation games, PS2 was a great value.
