Lol, 8 to 1 barrier.  Nah.  The ps2 sold because of price and library.  The DVD was an additional selling point, but low on the list.

Yes. an 8 to 1 barrier. If I want to buy a gaming system for its DVD capability I'm buying the one that works out of the box over the one where I need extra accessories for it to work. 

Not even mentioning the PS2 being discounted $50 every 2 years.
