Yet another Switch 2 announcement that leaves me wondering what happened to Nintendo...almost every decision they have made this gen is just BAD. They've gotten so complacent this gen, feels like they just completely gave up on their fans. Really who cares about a remake when people have been dying for a new Star Fox for so long. Every single time I wonder if Nintendo is gonna try to turn this gen around and actually start making decisions that would make me potentially have even a little interest in the Switch 2 (which really isn't hard as a primarily Nintendo gamer for nearly 4 decades now) it's just another swing and miss.

I guess the only upside is that they went down to more reasonable $50/$60 pricing for this rather than $60/$70, that at least is surprising for Nintendo these days.

(also agree on SF64 being super short. I remember beating it the day I got it, first time I'd ever beaten a game the day I bought it and I was like ummm really?? that's it? lol. It's a good game and sure there are multiple paths and multiplayer but that day back in '97 or whatever it was I couldn't believe the game was so short and easy that I beat it after just a few hours the day I bought it, gave me such an empty feeling even though it was a fun game. And even with the multiple paths and multiplayer it had to have been one of my least played N64 games just cuz there wasn't much to it)

They likely only had two years or less to get this done, Fox being in the Mario Galaxy movie was something only added once the movie was deep into production, so they likely had to decide then what kind of project was feasible to be out by the time the movie was. Honestly may have been less than 2 years. I would like a new game too, but they probably could not have gotten that done close enough to the movie's release which would have then kind of taken the air out of having Fox in the movie.

This is primarily for kids seeing the movie and getting them to play a Star Fox game ASAP. The emphasis on new cinematic cut sequences (which look quite nice) is also tailored to people coming out of the movie, they're making the franchise more cinematic. If the game sells alright they probably will allow the team to make a new game.

Again as I said this is the Nintendo Movie era pretty much. A lot is going to revolve around the movie release calendar. Wouldn't be surprised if a new 2D Donkey Kong and/or Donkey Kong Country Trilogy with redone graphics is being readied for the Donkey Kong movie that seems slated for 2028. We know the Zelda movie is 2027.
