I get motion controls still exist, but I am not convinced they are often used.  The top selling games seem to have none (or little) motion controls.  either way, I think Wii Sports had an impact, it just wouldn't make the top 10 from Nintendo (for me).  I think the convenience of the Switch decimates anything the Wii did.

GoldenEye 007 probably actually has had a longer lasting impact on the broad console market. You look at the top 10 game sellers to this day and there's still Call of Duty or some other FPS game at the top of the list ... GoldenEye 007 really started home multiplayer FPS as a system selling genre for consoles, before that it wasn't a huge genre outside of the PC which had DOOM.

Wii Sports ... you look at the top selling games of today and there's not a whole lot of influence on anything, even Nintendo's internal offerings have largely ditched waggle controls as the primary control method, going back to just standard controls (this goes for touch controls too) and motion controls are often times these days a secondary option that you can have but not the primary method. Touch control is a funny one because the DS significantly outsold the Wii, but Nintendo barely supports it these days, basically they ceded that almost entirely to smartphones.

I completely agree.  Motion, at best, is niche.  To me revolutionary means game changing, not temp one hit wonder.

4 face buttons, analog, dual analog, shoulder buttons...  motion isnt remotely on the same plan.
