Yeah, honestly this is not especially flattering for the Switch 2.

Beyond the Xbox Version being 5 years old (naturally it's already sold the vast majority of units in prior years) it still matched Switch 2 despite Cyberpunk being the most hyped and best selling 3rd party Switch 2 title in 2025 and there being way more new Xbox software released last year. It's even worse if we consider Switch 2 sold probably 3-4x as many consoles in 2025 than Xbox did.

Now I'm not saying this is a bad outcome, but lets ground it in reality. It's not impressive. If the Switch 2 couldn't muster more than this then I would actually be concerned about future 3rd party support of this kind where a dedicated team works on on the port over a long period of time.

On a positive note, Switch 2 sales would prove higher revenue per sale than all other platforms and most importantly the Switch 2 port created a boost on sales on all other platforms. Arguably there may be more value in late Switch 2 for some games rather than having it out day one, because late Switch 2 ports (if good) create a second wind of interest and media coverage that could translate into big revenue boosts across all platforms (especially PC/Playstation) 6months/1 year after launch and promote some double dipping. Same happened with Star Wars Outlaws with its sales rising on other platforms after its Switch release.
