95% of hate campaigns in video games come from the right. Trying to both-sides the discussion is not really helpful. Even a game like Stellar Blade that got some pushback didn’t have any real sustained campaign against it. I didn’t see any review bombing, I don’t think the actress that played Eve got death threats and YouTube is not filled with ragebait videos about it. |
I know your discussion with curl came to a conclusion. But I want to add something here. Attacking the fence sitters is never helpful. Fence sitting is the normal reaction to a topic, especially if you don't know much about it. People have complicated life, they cannot invest energy to explore every topic. If I asked you about Unit 731 or Unequal treaties chances are that you never before heard of it and probably don't care much or try to stay out of it. That is normal. Treating the fence sitters not with disdain gives you the opportunity that over time and the people learning more about the issue they take your stance. Attacking them means they are unlikely to ever join forces with you. So stop attacking fence sitters. Sometimes these are people that after a full workweek just want to play a game to relax and really don't want to dive into the topics surrounding it.
