Old and dated in some regards, but if you haven't played the original, dude, it is still well worth playing.  Better than the remakes by a good margin.  FFVII (IMO) is still Square's best.  My favorite rpg till Expedition 33 came out.  

Turn-based gameplay just isn't my thing, no matter how hard I try I just can't enjoy it.

Fair.  Though if expedition 33 hits the S2, turn based aside, give it a go.  Has a dodge and parry system, so feels modern even though it is turn based.

Cheers; my gf actually already picked it up on PS5 so I may give it a go there sometime, probably won't be my thing but it can't hurt to try.
