I mainly just count calories and try to stick to around 1700 a day which is good for 2-3KG a month lost when I'm consistent with it. The consistency is the hard part though and when I start messing up with it it can take a while to get back on track though I have been consistent with it for entire year stretches earlier this decade so I just need to do that again.

Yeah finding a lifestyle you can stick to long term is the trick. I think I have found mine; been at my healthy weight for 11 years now, back in 2014 I was 97kg/214lbs which is seriously overweight for my height, and given my history a heart attack waiting to happen. That motivated me to lose it as I was very anxious about being the next in my family to kick the bucket at 50.
