As I replyed to someone else, I think the Vita had great hardware but really lacked exclusives, and the Wii U had great exclusives but was not attractive as a purchase.

Yeah by the time it got its "system sellers" like Smash Bros Ultimate & Mario Kart 8, it was already deemed a flop. It lacked single player oriented games like mainline Zelda & mainline Mario, the fact it was directly competing with PS4/X1 (launched 1 year later) didn't help
