How so? If a PlayStation store opens which allows consumers to exclusively access PS5/PS6 digital library on PC through this launcher, then that seems like a recipe for a ton of success. Especially if Sony were to start to sell their first-party titles exclusively through their launcher (once it’s big enough).

Sony won't sell their content only through this launcher. That is a disaster waiting to happen mostly because there's not nearly enough first party content to make this viable from a maintainence or consumer perspective.

The biggest issue here is who the audience for this hypothetical launcher is? And I doubt there is a large enough audience on PC with high-end PC (which I asusme is not that high to begin with) who will want another launcher just for Sony games. I'm not convinced.

Epic had to be incredibly agreesive to get a foot into the PC launcher space. There's no way Sony is going to follow that playbook, which makes the decreases the value proposition imho.

Although I agree with this, I don't think this rules out timed exclusives.

Right now Sony are simply not launching single player games on PC day and date. With the Launcher they could have that day & date experience and I think a fair number of PC gamers would use the Sony launcher to play Wolverine at Launch. It's an annoyance but not something that will deter most from an entire gameplay experience they're excited for. All the meanwhile Sony has lost nothing because they otherwise wouldn't be launching it on PC until 1 year+ later anyway. Come that point in the games life it will receive a wider Steam/Epic release as seen in their current PC strategy.

Personally not sure the value of a launcher on Sonys side if people only check in for a 2 games per year, but if the cross buy feature works across many more third party games that could be a potential trojan horse for Sony for people who game on both PC & Console.
