The plus side would be if MS were to do this, it would put more pressure on SNY to get more creative and offer more controller options, possibly similar to what XB does like personal customization.
Having to choose an XB third party themed/custom controller over a DS PS controller would look bad on SNY, especially if those XB controllers sold well enough on PS5/PS6.
A DS PS Halo themed controller designed by Bungie (with or without the Bungie logo on it) would be sweet and hilarious.

PS4 - $- We must build a console that’s affordable, charges for services, and pumps out exclusives.
PRO -%-We must build a console that's VR ready, checkerboard upscales, and sells but a fraction of the money printer.
PS5 - ^ -We must build a console that’s a generational cross product, with RT lighting, and price hiking.
PRO -&- We must build a console that Super Res upscales and continues the cost increases.
