Just watched Bring Her Back.
It’s a slow burn, available on Prime.
It’s one of those films to avoid any spoilers. I find this is a really strong year for horror. Some really good ones I’ve seen, and have about 25 recommendations I haven’t seen.
So far:
Bring Her Back → just a great slow burn horror film that has psychological creepiness… and I really don’t want to spoil too much.
The Substance → Really good art horror film… this one is body horror with a story that makes very little sense, it’s mainly about style and themes.
Heretic → This one is an about two mormon girls (Sophie Thatcher, Chloe East) go to a house where a very intelligent non-believer (Hugh Grant) waits. (Kind of Barbarian vibes). That 70’s Show Gopher Trace is also it.
Companion → Again, Sophie Thatcher stars (again)… also Pete Davidson is in it (if you don’t like him, you won’t mind his role and story in this one). It’s a bit a university age horror of kinda shallow kids that end up in a bad situation… also throws in some sci-fi elements.
28 Years Later → Kinda hard to rank this one as it’s only the beginning of the story, that will, presumably, be three films that tell one story like Lord of the Rings. The story is only part way done, it continues this coming winter. Much like other Danny Boyl films, high in stylization… but it’s also as much of a post-apocalyptic fantasy with a horror theme, and some horror moments.
Gonna try and reach 25 horror films from this year by the end of November… depends on time.
I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
