Some of the complaints about first party lineup, I find laughable. “No big Mario or Zelda for the holiday!” Or “too many cross-gen titles!”

Not having a specific game you want in the first year is not a valid complaint about their transition strategy.

Also, cross-gen is just the way the industry is now, Xbox & PlayStation were getting many high profile cross-gen first party titles years into this generation.

In the past Nintendo actually delayed games to coincide with a transition to a new platform to give it more oomph, so it is a valid talking point.

Cross gen equally is a select choice which people can be critical off. Particularly as the huge gulf between Switch and Switch 2 is similar to that of PS3 > PS4 and we did not see much cross gen in regards to 1st party. Specific to one of Curls questions actually, I think a game like Metroid Prime 4 should have been built for Switch 2 in mind from the very conception and really taken advantage of its full feature set. For me it's missing such a standout 1st party title which gets me excited about the potential for the system, particularly for the kind of games I will go on to play (Zelda, Xenoblade etc)

looking back at the PS4's reveal Killzone looked so beautiful and Infamous Second Son still looks gorgeous. These were PS4 launch window games, so again I think there's a bit of wow factor missing from the 1st party offering although DK's destruction is very cool so I'll give them marks for that.

I suspect Metroid on S2 will outsell the S1 version 2:1 anyway but would of been nice for it to properly look the part, figured it would also create more hype for the game too
