Like I'm not against the talk that's been had over the necessities of announcing DLC or content right before a game has even been released ...

But let's not kid ourselves, there's a huge part of the discourse that hangs out on the premise of exceptionalism cuz this is Pokemon franchise we're talking here.

Where the f**k were y'all when every VG company made this practice a standard since much earlier in the previous generation ?!

Have y'all been blind about all those special deluxe gold editions sold an extra with season passes on top of it all during the last few years or you just wanted a way to vent an extra one because this is Nintendo we're talking here ?

The talking points given here are far from genuine in certain cases here.

There was massive backlash against this during the 360/PS3 era and it pretty much became uncommon in the AAA space this gen. DLC passes were common on PS4/5 but this normally equate to 1-2 years of support with the first pieces arriving 4-6months after release and not actually being shown off til after the main game was out, so definitely different optics.

I don't think there's any bias here. Just fresh reactions to Nintendo of all people putting this front and center ahead of a games release where people are already questioning the value proposition / effort put into the base product.
