In the foreseeable future, not move away from genetic programming, but better balance it with efficiency, as your top point explains.
Moving away from fight or flight would doom the West when it comes to its enemies. That doesn't mean the West has to constantly wage war, but it also doesn't allow the West to move beyond it. The West must balance it as efficiently as it can, for now.
Evolve beyond it eventually, far easier said than done, perhaps, but until then, it's a balancing act.
