DF definitely have their niche, and I for one enjoy their content. My point is more that they come at things from the perspective of graphics enthusiasts; there's nothing with that, as that's their target audience. The average consumer is somewhat less focused on graphics however, so a lot of things that DF find to be serious problems, like a game using FSR instead of DLSS, just isn't an issue to most players, especially on a system like Switch 2 where people know they're not getting a high end device and care more about portability than performance. Again, this doesn't invalidate DF, I just doubt things that bother those guys will be a dealbreaker for most Switch 2 owners. |
The "average consumer" being somewhat less focused would be an understatement lol. Throwing out even kids and casuals entirely, I doubt even 10% of "core" gamers on Playstation, XBox, or Switch platforms could even correctly answer the following questions:
1.) Who makes the GPU for your game console? I remember I asked a good buddy of mine this, and this guy put like a hundred hours into Red Dead Redemption 2 on the PS4, buys COD, buys tons of core games. He's not a casual gamer by any means. When asked he just blankly stared at me and said "Doesn't Sony make the GPU?". Most people don't even know that AMD or Nvidia make the GPUs inside their Playstation/XBox/Switch, lol.
2.) What class GPU is it? Most people will definitely not be able to answer this.
3.) How much RAM does your console have?
I'd say upwards of 90% of core console gamers can't even answer those 3 basic questions, lol. They have no fucking clue what resolution their games are running, most of them don't even know what FSR or DLSS is let alone the difference between the two. They have maybe a vague understanding of some this stuff at best (like "my XBox is HD!" or "it's 4K graphics! It says so right on the box!" or "I have 1 TB storage").
If you can answer the three questions above, you're already in a pretty extreme niche audience.
