Where were you again to call for the release in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, or 2024? |
Personally, I feel the need to release the "Epstein files" is a bit more complicated than some people are making it out to be.
If the files actually incriminate people and include a "client list", first and foremost, these people should be charged. Typically, evidence involved in a criminal investigation isn't and shouldn't be released before trial.
Further, if there is evidence which doesn't look great but doesn't directly implicate anyone in a crime (like the flight logs), there are significant ethical concerns when it comes to tying potentially innocent people to incredibly severe investigations.
And if there is nothing of value in the files, I'd probably lean towards releasing them but in effect it wouldn't really matter, because the conspiracy heads would just say they're holding the valuable stuff back.
But this all gets complicated by people in Trump's orbit stirring the pot of conspiracy theories. He and his ilk have made so much noise, throwing accusations and making denials, but now they are saying there is nothing there? That about-face demands proof. It amplifies the valid public interest in those files. If Trump World had said nothing about it and let it fall into the past, this pressure wouldn't exist, but they used the conspiracies every step of the way until they got too close and then tried to cast them aside. Now, the only way out it to release the files.
