The Japanese gaming market has been dead long ago. It is the Western market what matters the most now and the Playstation 5 dominates it. Now PS5 gots its big Sony exclusives and all Xbox games coming to it. Once GTA 6 lunches, the PS5 will even dominate more in the west. The Japanese gaming market is now nich market.😁

Switch is the best selling console of all time in japan.

The *Console* gaming market is certainly not dead but it has to be looked at as a holistic whole, not any individual platform or publisher. If in 2007 you had 30 titles all selling 500k+ software in Japan, how does that compare to modern day? Nintendo having a handful of mega hits doesn't necessarily compensate for an overall decline in software purchases and gaming interest.

In the digital age I'm not sure we ever got a clear picture with what is happening with Japanese software overall. I'm very curious to know whether its been stable, declining or increasing.

Now there is finally synergy with 3rd parties global efforts and Nintendo's hardware, I'll also be very curious to see whether the Japanese market has a big software boom. Was it just that not enough developers were making titles for Japans preferred platform or has tastes shifted in such a way where the market is in dominated by only select few titles etc.
