I’m curious to see how Nintendo’s planning to deal with Smash Bros moving forward. With Sakurai having been focused on Kirby Air Riders as of recent, I’d imagine that must mean the next entry is going to either an entirely new studio, or is going on hiatus. (Which, yeah, >30mil on NSW for SSBUltimate is insane success…but Metroid was massive on SNES, and Zelda skipped Wii U (kinda). Nintendo is not shy on pressing the “hiatusâ€Â button w/ their major franchises.)

Ultimate is so big I think they can only go in two directions, either just re-release ultimate with more content or take the series in a big new direction.

It's a similar issue to MK8 they had to solve. That game with DLC has 96 tracks. Could they really just release a new MK with 32 again? Trying to make a brand new mario kart with as much content as MK8 Deluxe would be far too much work. So they had to make a change to the series which for MK was the openworld.

So either we'll get ultimate+ or there'll be a big shakeup to the smash formula imo.

Then hopefully most of the tracks in Mario Kart World are new.
