Similar to TOTK with its elaborate physics, it can't have been easy to make a game where almost the whole world can be deformed and destroyed without breaking the game or being buggy as hell.

Didn't The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction come close to that?

Similar concept, but less complex due to being on older hardware. Still impressive stuff for its time though.
