Probably the single most predictable event in the entertainment industry so far this year. It's been one disaster after another, on top of no one asking for this to be made. The focus on live-action remakes in and on itself just shows that Disney have failed to understand the draw and charm of their own animated features to begin with. It's becoming clear that Disney needs new leadership across the board (pun intended), too many mistakes are being made way too often.

Really, the entire concept of Disney live-action remakes has an uphill battle from the start. Too similar to the old one, and people will complain that it's a pointless cash-grab. Change it to any significant degree, and you'll have people complaining that you're screwing around with a sacred classic.

Ironically, the Disney movies that would benefit most from a live-action remake are the mid-tier ones that had obvious flaws in their original release, such as The Aristocats, The Black Cauldron, or Oliver and Company. But then, Disney probably thought there wouldn't be enough audience interest in seeing those remade seeing how the originals were so... well, mid-tier.

The Lion King 2019 is too similar in dialogue, the plot, and songs than the 1994 original. And it does nothing as well or better than the 1994 original either. The Lion King 2019 is the textbook example of a pointless cash grab. There are no humans in The Lion King, and they didn't even use any live-action nature shots except at the very beginning.

I haven't seen Snow White, but compared to the animated classic it seems to fit into the changing too much and screwing around with a sacred classic. But it's funny because Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs seems to have lost a lot of popularity in the last 15 or so years due to the technical aspects of the film aging more and more as well as the plot and characters feeling very dated.

I have a feeling the same whiners who probably never cared for the classic to begin with are some of the loudest people complaining about how woke and bad the remake is.
