But thinking about it more, it makes sense. Nintendo clearly wants people to still think about the Switch1 as an attractive purchase for 'New' games. Having those two 2026 titles points in that direction, not in the least because these two I believe would be popular with Switch Lite users.

I'm making the prediction that at least TomoDachi live will get a themed Switch1 Lite in 2026, well after Switch2 launch.

Also I think going forward future remaster/remake/re-release Switch1 games will be announced on Nintendo Today App. So I'm still expecting games like Kirby Planet Robobot.

Nintendo seems to want to convey this:

Switch 2 is our main focus but Switch will still get first-party software support into 2026, even new titles that aren't re-releases/remasters/remakes.

I'm sure there are some of re-releases coming but Nintendo wants to hold them closer to the chest until it's strategic to reveal them. Had Rhythm Heaven and Tomodachi come out earlier in Switch's life (2024 or before) I have a feeling Nintendo wouldn't announce them approximately a year in advance. But with Switch turning 8 years old recently and Switch 2 imminent, they needed to reassure Switch customers the value of the platform. 

Expect Switch first-party support until late 2027, possibly beyond. But of course, it's likely going to be minor titles and some remasters and such. Think of the late support 3DS got which isn't an identical analogy to Switch but a relative barometer.
