In 2024, the PS5 got: Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Star Wars Outlaws, Metaphor: ReFantazio, Black Myth: Wukong, Helldivers 2, Tekken 8, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Silent Hill 2, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Indiana Jones, Astrobot, Dragon's Dogma 2, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, Persona 3 Reloaded, and Stellar Blade

PS5 is actually where gaming is happening right now. I don't even like half of the list, but it's clear that there are plenty of games for all different tastes

It's true that only a few of them are exclusives, but the only other platforms for these games are PC and Xbox. PC is huge, and many of these games are actually bigger on PC than on PS5, but gaming PCs are expensive. Meanwhile, Xbox is simply not competitive, and console gamers are favoring PlayStation this generation

The next argument is "but... but... but... those are on PS4 too" indeed support the argument of PS5 success: In fact, 42% of PS5 purchases are registering as new accounts, meaning there is a significant user base replacement. You can also read: There is still plenty of people playing on their PS4 that are waiting to upgrade, this bound positively for PS5 future life sales

The PS5 will easily surpass the 100 million mark, and outselling the PS4 is not off the table. N64 sales fell off a cliff in its fourth fiscal year when sales were already far from stellar and completely died in the fifth fiscal year simply because there was nothing left to play. Obviously not the case here

I've seen you repeat this "PS5 is the new N64" since 2021 I think, it's time to let it go man

You need to get out of your bubble. The top 4 best selling games by revenue in the USA last year aren't even on the Switch. The amount of gigantic titles that have skipped the Switch is huge. It's fine to have Switch as your primary platform, but to claim that Switch is where gaming as a whole is at and that other platforms are pathetic is so far removed from reality. Nintendo themselves are the only ones pushing huge numbers on the Switch. Your personal likes and dislikes have made you completely lose perspective, Switch is just a part of a humongous industry.

In 2024 alone you have massive titles like College Football, Helldivers 2, Black Myth Wukong, Palworld and Black Ops 6 all 20m+ sellers (or definitely on their way there) skipping Switch.

You guys should be arguing with the other poster that agrees that the PS5 is pathetic, but swears N64 was this super impressive console way better than the PS5.

Discourse about complaining about a console's library is often frustrating and nonsensical.

People say "PS5 has no games" and that's a lot of hyperbole. PS5 has a huge library. They say the same thing about Xbox One and Xbox Series despite their huge libraries.

Wii U had more of a reason I guess to make that claim, but there were still hundreds of digital games (admittedly some were meh to shovelware) and some Nintendo games worth playing. Wii U is perhaps the only console in relatively recent years (and maybe Wii before it) that is a tough sell as a primary system. PS4, Xbox One, Switch, PS5, and Xbox Series all can be primary platforms for a user.

Lifetime Sales Predictions

Switch: 161 million (was 73 million, then 96 million, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million, then 151 million, then 156 million)

Switch 2: 120 million (was 116 million)

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)
