It depends. There are people who don't have other consoles, so Switch would absolutely be their primary system. And there are those who might have a PlayStation or Xbox but really love Nintendo games and play some third-party games on Switch.
For those of us who play plenty of games, it's common to have Switch as a secondary system. PS4 was my primary system from 2019-2022, with PS5 as my primary from 2022-present. Switch was my primary from 2017-2019.

Yup, this is the answer. Switch was my primary system from 2019 to 2022, when I bought it to play the 2017 and 2018 games as well as Wii U games I never played. After 2023 I felt Switch got stale, with outdated graphics and games that look more of the same, last year a played a total of only one new game on Switch

Then the PS5 got released, it become my primary system, and it has been the case for the last 3 years. However I already have catch up all games I wanted to play on Playstation, and I'm now only following the schedule and waiting for new games. The only game I'm currently planning to buy this year is Ghost of Yotei, Sony line up is getting really barren and uneventful too

Now, I built a good PC, and it probably going to be my main platform for the next years, mainly to play games that work better with keyboard and mouse and free online, like simulation games, MMOs, and also other older games I can buy for cheaper compared to PS5

I think eventually Switch 2 will be my main platform too, once it gets enough exclusives
