| Kneetos said: Which isn't a good thing that Sony doesn't care about Japan A lot of mid-range games from Japanese studios are skipping playstation either at launch or altogether as a result, and not only are western fans unhappy about that, they are blaming everyone but Sony for that. We are seeing it with rune factory, professor Layton, last defence academy, and dragon quest monsters: the dark prince In the past, shin megami tensei 5, monster hunter rise, harvestella, monster hunter stories 2, beyonetta 2, 3 and origins. All those games have seen varying amounts of frustration at not being given a playstation port at launch or at all, but the anger is always directed to Nintendo, for paying to steal games from playstation, and holding them hostage (I have seen people say those) Or developers/publishers, who are being anti consumer, by choosing not to give playstation gamers these games No one wants to hold playstation accountable for their failure in Japan as it affects a lot more then just their Japanese sales. It's affecting the developers who want to make games but if they have to choose what console to make it for, there is only 1 option now, and it's not the company that "doesn't care about Japan" |
This actually isn't true. Games like Professor Layton & Dragon Quest Monsters have historic audiences and been exclusive to Nintendo handhelds and skipped playstation even at PSPs peak. Playstation has no problem with Japanese software support, it simply that Japanese audiences prefer to play on Switch and greatly value Nintendo IP over any other.
