You act as if getting elected is all Trump has to do but that is just the beginning.  He needs to perform or all the advantages goes away.  So lets not get ahead of ourselves until he actually performs because you still seem to forget he lost his reelection so just getting into the office is only one of many steps, being effective and not nuke his party is something different.

We will see how great some dinner goes compared to what Trump actually does.  If he is going to talk big, not going through makes him look weak.  Its not like Trump isn't above lying during these talks or did you forget those talks Trump had with China that he would reduce the Tariffs if China would start to purchase soy and other products from US farmers.  Then when nothing happened, China told Trump to go F himself.  No one is foolish enough to just listen to Trump without any actual agreement in place as they all know, his word means nothing.

There wasn't out of control inflation in 2016.

As for Trump forcing other countries to go into protection mode, well, protect Canada, or Canada First, is pretty much what our Federal Conservatives have been campaigning on, and it's certainly working for them. Just 1 more year until the election, if its not called sooner. I wonder who the Republicans and Trump would rather deal with? Alberta and its Provincial Conservative Gov are all about that black gold, and they do not get along well with Trudeau and the Federal Liberal Party.

Evidently you did not understand what I was stating.  Inflation is a global issue, but as we have seen most Americans only see only past their own nose.  Meaning that it really doesn't matter if the issue is global, they will always blame the current administration because they are hurting.  The same will be the results of Trump tariffs.  People only care about if they are hurting and if those tariffs do not relieve that hurt, his administration will suffer.

I am comparing policies that do not work, it really does not matter what country it is being applied to because the response will always be the same.  Do you believe that Canada will just let the US dictate policy against their country because Trump believe he can just throw around tariffs and make Canada submit to his whims.  That was the same stupid mistake he made against China and it really doesn't matter what country he tries that tactic against, it doesn't work.  It would be better if he negotiated first before going on social media trying to appear tough and dictate policy from social media.  It will always put the other country into a situation where now they have to respond differently because Trump is trying to elevate himself instead of working with the countries first.  Most leaders understand this process but we do not have a leader we have a immature child who believes in trying to appear tough gets the job done.

Its not about Trump forcing other countries into protection mode, its Trump believing that he can force US policy through tariffs.  While Tariffs can be a very useful tool, its not a hammer that can be applied to every situation.  What will happen is that every country he tries to use Tariffs to force US policy will just cause those other countries to do so in response.  If he believe he can apply broad tariffs against multiple countries, the impact will be much greater against the US because multiple countries applying the same tariffs against US goods causes multiple US business to be effected.

So if the Canadian government is going Canada first, you tell me why would they submit to Trump if protecting their own businesses and interest is the forfront of that movement. Maybe its just me but it really does not appear you are arguing against what I am saying.  Who cares what the US GOP would want to deal with, its what the Canadian government is willing to bend the knee and kiss Trump butt and also appear to have Canadian interest at heart.  They cannot do both.
