Just finished "Mare of Easttown"; it was brilliant. I don't understand how Winslet manages a near flawless Philly accent as a Brit, it's hugely impressive. Good story, great acting all round, with the exception of a few younger cast members.
I also cancelled my Netflix account after over a decade, after yet another price hike. HBO nearly doubled in price this summer, which also sucks. I cancelled Disney+ too, due to price hikes and poor original content, Andor alone can't justify the price. I bought SkyShowtime today, there was a 50% for life discount on the brand new Premium sub (which finally added 4K and better sound), and it has quite a few originals I want to see. Monthly cost is only about 7$ or so, which is good. Yellowstone is now available in 4K for the first time, that show is made for it, with its vistas and gorgeous cinematography. I'll be cycling my services from here on out, due to the absurd pricing, and HBO (or MAX) is next on the chopping block once I've finished a couple of shows.
I think the streaming space is headed into stormy weather now, you can't have this many services, and expect all of them to expand and grow. And the model itself isn't really viable, it presents issues similar to Gamepass. Offering cheaper options for subscriptions, with the caveat of having to suffer through commercials, kind of removes the point of the services to begin with (at least for me). Around these parts, most cable provides are selling cable deals where basic streaming services (with ads) are included, but the deals are mostly shit.
I looked into services for watching UEFA Champion's League and international matches as well, but the pricing is insane (as in 50-70$ a month for the sports service alone).
