How is this a silly debate? can you name one big ip that exploded in japan other then splatoon from Nintendo in the last 10-12 years. for AAA developer it's almost next to impossible to have a massive success there if you are not Nintendo. Then you also have most of the other franchises that were somewhat big seeing huge declines, like resident evil, DMC, GT, final fantasy, SF6, and a few others. We are not asking if third parties can do well, we are asking what thirdparty developer are thriving in japan, and it's only Nintendo.
