So we know where Starfield ranked on Steam now, unlike on the platinum sellers list which was randomized. Starfield came in 3rd place on Steam Renenue in 2023.

Honestly not too shabby imo, obviously Baldur's Gate 3 did better but BG3 didn't have Gamepass PC pulling away sales. Starfield did more than 2/3rds of Hogwarts Legacy meanwhile, a game which released 6+months before it and sold 22m copies worldwide across all platforms during the year.

Honestly Jedi Survivor didn't do all that well considering the first game sold over 20m copies lifetime all platforms. Maybe the poor optimization on the PC version made most people buy it on consoles, or maybe it just didn't do very well on any platforms. It did at least do well enough that a 3rd game is in development though, Cameron Monaghan confirmed a 3rd is in development.

The account game devs give about the influence of Gamepass on sales is contradictory. So how much sales were lost for Starfield is actually an open question. But either way, we have to keep one thing in mind: if many people played a lot of Starfield via Gamepass, it means it did increase the value of GP for them. And as a reminder: the subscription isn't free. So if it made them subscribe longer or even subscribe at all, then Starfield also made indirect revenue via GP.

And the numbers for Baldur's Gate are simply amazing. Hogwarts and Starfield did pretty well, but both fall behind, even combined. And that while BG3 had a smaller budget than the two other games. Well done Larian. I hope they don't get cocky and muck it all up now.
