Those are unproven rumors though, and even if they are true, a Pro revision of an existing system isn't the same level of commitment as a next gen successor.

Work on the next console begins basically as soon as the previous one is out, these companies plan out their strategy years in advance. Sony and Microsoft will already be deep in planning for the PS6 and Xbox 5 right now.

As for how well it's selling, DS was still selling very well when 3DS came out, same for GBA when DS came out.

They plan them out and plans can easily be changed. Let's see what happens you might right. It's gonna be very interesting. My bet is 2025 relalease date.
