These things are planned out years in advance, it's not like they decide sometime next year "okay, let's make Switch 2 now."

The development of hardware and the software to go with it takes years, and there's no way they could have known years ago that their sales would still be strong by this point.

According to many rumors they had plans to make a pro and then just canceled and honestly if I was ninetndo and wanted to launch switch I would have just delayed zelda and 2d mario for a cross gen release. it honestly doesn't make sense to release in 2024 with how well switch is doing with out even a discount. I don't  designing consoles is like thr old days and especially for switch which is has a Ton of options for chips to choose from.
