Bad analogy. You have to play EVERY MGS before you play Guns of the Patriots.
On Topic: There was no story to speak of in Echoes or in Prime. In Corruption, it's pretty much a sequel in gameplay aspects only. There is no "continuing" story. All you need to know is that Dark Samus is evil. Kill her. That's the story in Echoes.
If you want to play Corruption, go for it, you won't be lost.
