The value is certainly there for me. The biggest complaint I see is the price but then why not just use the family deals? Even with only one more person it's already 50% off, that's pretty big. I am the owner of a "family" of 8 people consisting of my brother, two cousins and their friends which I have never seen or spoken to, but I don't care because we all benefit from this. Each year they transfer 8,75€ to me and everyone is happy (note that the pricing is slightly different in Europe). That's not expensive at all if you ask me.
Side note: F-Zero X alone is worth 8,75€ a year. I'm playing it right now and it's as fantastic as ever.
