Radek beat me too it, but with how expensive and time consuming it is to make new games for modern platforms, and their existing commitments to AAA game development for PS/Xbox, a lot of these devs simply won't have the money, time, and manpower to spare to also make all new games from the ground up for Switch. It'd be awesome if they did, and I'd love to see more new games from some of these devs, but I'd rather have ports of their PS4/Xbone games than nothing.

Like I say I actually really loved games like Witcher 3 and Doom Eternal on Switch.

I also think calling ports like Dying Light " barren of awfully inferior versions " is pretty unfair given it looks and most likely runs much better than it ever would on PS3 and Xbox 360, and plenty of people were upset these versions were cancelled.

January 2015 was still pretty early to drop last gen support, these days we are getting a lot of last gen ports even in 2022 which is more than 8 years after they came out.

Exactly, I actually think ports like Dying Light, Witcher 3, Doom Eternal, Hellblade, etc are very worthy of praise given how much hard work the developers must have had to put in to get them to look and run as they do on hardware significantly less powerful than PS4/Xbone.

It must have taken a lot of blood, sweat, tears and talent to bring them over in their current forms.
