That is like saying that you need to prove to prove that every single Playstation 2 was used for gaming and not as a DVD player. I think that empirically solidifies my position at this point at any rate. |
I wasn't going to bring up the PS2's functionality as a DVD player, because there is a vocal group of people on this website the vehemently deny that the PS2 reached 158 million consoles sold because some of them were sold for that feature. So, you said it not me. ;)
But, you are still missing the point of what each device is built for. The Gameboy, GBA, DS, 3DS, and Switch were built specifically to play video games. You don't need a mobile data plan tied to the system to play them. Video games are their primary functionality. Video games do not account for less than 25% of the downloads on a 3DS or Switch. A mobile/smart phone was designed to be a mobile device with a mobile data plan tied to it for usage. Yes, the user is free to kill time on it with a plethora of other apps like gaming, social media, video streaming, etc. But, the purpose of what the device was built for remains the same. How many of those billions bought their phone with the express purpose of playing Candy Crush?
And, since you tried calling me out for highlighting Candy Crush as one of the top games that mobile gamers are pouring time and money into, here are the Top Grossing genres of mobile games in NA:
