Not much movement in the last month for third parties. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, Jump Force, and Captain Tsubasa ended up underperforming in Japan - which I expected for most of these titles. Square again botched the launch for one of its titles, which lead to a second-week drop of 90%. Late port Jump Force performed like one just for comparison on the PS4 it launched with 78K sales an year and a half ago.

Finally, Captain Tsubasa price and reception ensured it perform well below my expectations in Japan. It's definitely not the sleeper hit I was expecting and will be lucky to reach 50K sales at this point. I hope Bandai drops the price considerably because this game could do well if it's priced similarly to Fishing Spirits and Taiko

The big 3rd Party story of the summer remains Human Fall Flat from my perspective. eBaseball has done good on the Switch but that was expected. Meanwhile, this little game made by a single Lithuanian has only exited the chart once since debuting.

  • 14./00. Human: Fall Flat (Teyon Japan) {2020.06.25} (¥3.500) - 5.241 / NEW <40-60%>
  • 20./14. Human: Fall Flat - 2.427 / 7.668 <40-60%> (-54%)
  • 23./20. Human: Fall Flat - 2.088 / 9.756 <60-80%> (-14%)
  • 30./23. Human: Fall Flat - 1.619 / 11.375 <80-100%> (-22%)
  • 28./30. Human: Fall Flat - 2.170 / 13.545 <60-80%> (+34%) - SECOND SHIPMENT
  • 25./00. Human: Fall Flat - 2.232 / 17.324 <60-80%> (+44%)
  • 20./25. Human: Fall Flat - 4.915 / 22.239 <80-100%> (+120%) - OBON SOFTWARE BOOST
  • 23./20. Human: Fall Flat - 2.098 / 24.337 <80-100%> (-57%)
  • 30./23. Human: Fall Flat - 1.932 / 26.269 <80-100%> (-8%)
  • 25./30. Human: Fall Flat - 2.735 / 29.004 <80-100%> (+42%)

I believe that Teyon Japan will end up in the Top 30 with Human Fall Flat by the end of the year. The game should do well in the holidays and retailers are ordering additional shipments. The game continues to dominate the eShop Chart and will very likely be a 1 million selling game in Japan physical+digital if its not already. I think it should get to over >125K physical sales in 2020.

SMT III is the next major third party game to release at the end of October... but once again we don't have any details on Bravely 2 or Rune Factory 5 which were supposed to drop this year. Monster Hunter Switch remains the elephant in the room because if it launches this year it could very well ensure that 3rd Party sales on the Switch doubling the current total by the end of the year with the help of Taiko, Momotaro, Atelier 2, and Age of Calamity.

Also Koei Tecmo could very well rocket to 5th place behind Konami thanks to Age of Calamity, currently, their top-selling game on the Switch is Attack on Titan 2 which has sold just 80K and is barely missing out on a Top 30 placing - Age of Calamity & Atelier 2 should make the Top 30 and as I've said previously Age of Calamity has a great chance to be their best selling game since Dynasty Warriors 7(478K)
