Read my post above yours. If you have a better answer, I'd like to hear it xD

"- Put a timer on digital sales. Not too small, but small enough to make people worry. That together with the limited physical print will put even more pressure on fans to adquire the game even if they are not entirely convinced"

Getting people on the fence to panic buy it? Well if someone isn't convinced, waiting wouldn't really change much, right? Because Nintendo games tend to not drop in price. So I wonder how many people that would sway.
People who plan to buy a Switch later may look at this and consider buying it sooner if they're that interested in this game.

But limiting the sales of these games to just 6 months doesn't seem like a great idea, so perhaps they want to sell these games separately after that, and think it'll be more profitable that way.

If I'm remembering correctly, they similarly limited the production of All-Stars on the Wii (although they would have a re-release a few years later). Let's not forget that they're also limiting the release of that Battle Royale game to March 31 too.

It seems like it's just something they do.

Right, but I was looking for a reason.

It's not like they had a meeting about this and someone said "Oh and put a timer on it till next March" and when someone asked why, they responded "I dunno, it's just something we do."

After thinking about it, they wouldn't want to limit the sales of these games to just 6 months I'm sure, so one reason may be that they want to sell these games separately after March, and think it'll be more profitable that way.

As for the Battle Royale game, at first I got the impression that it would be free to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. Similar to Playstation Plus monthly games, which just got Fall Guys for free.
But I imagine they would have mentioned the word free in that case, so probably not.

I mean, why does a fire burn? Why does the universe exist? Why do Kardashians date NBA players? Sometimes, nature just does things, y'know?

Nintendo might be doing this because they genuinely think this is a good way to celebrate their mascot, and the timed releases make it more "special." Or maybe there's some religious significance to these dates that eludes me. I suggest not looking further into it not because some executive(s) somewhere don't have a rationale, but because humans have a tendency to do irrational things based on their own cultural norms and values, which outsiders will never really "get." Think of that village in Britain that rolls a wheel of cheese down a hill so that a bunch of drunks can hurt themselves chasing after it. I've been following Nintendo for decades now: fuck me if I'll ever understand all their decisions.
