Lasted a lot longer than my original ps3. My first one only lasted about a year before I got a ylod. That was a rough generation for hardware failure...

The seventh generation of consoles is undeniably the crappiest for hardware reliability in most of gaming history. Xbox 360 had Red Ring of Death, scratched disks, and stuck disc drives. PS3 has the Yellow Light of Death from hardware failure. And even the Wii has disc lens issues, notably in dual-layer games.

In 2009, 360 failure rate was 23.7%, PS3 was 10%. And the Wii back then was only 2.7%. To me, anything higher than 5% is ridiculous.

But to the OP, I hope your PS3 starts working again after the repair and lasts for years to come.
