To piggy back off what xMetroid is saying. You guys are SEVERELY underestimating the nostalgia for the 3D Mario games; Especially 64 and Galaxy.

We've got the data and the numbers that show remakes of old, beloved classic games sell just as well, and are just as profitable, if not more, than brand new games.
- Resident Evil 2 Remake
- Link's Awakening
- Crash N Sane Trilogy
- Final Fantasy VII Remake

3 of the 4 games I just listed even outsold their original releases. The 4th became the fastest selling entry in its franchise's history.

If you don't think a 3D Mario collection can sell and pull in the same numbers for both hardware and software as a new 3D Mario game, you need a reality check.

Think about the games we're talking about here. They're some of the most beloved and universally acclaimed titles in gaming history:

Super Mario 64 - One of the most revolutionary titles of all time that set A LOT of standards back in 1996. The game that pretty much kick started 3D platforming and for many people, 3D gaming in general. The vast majority of people would rush out to the stores to by the collection just for this game alone!

Super Mario Galaxy - A masterpiece in every conceivable way when it released and for a lot of people, the Wii's magnum opus. You know how everyone has their list of 10/10 games? Everyone has them, myself included. But only 1 game is on that list - This is it. This is the ONLY game I would give a 10/10 Perfect score without hesitation. Everything about this title just *clicks*. It's one of those titles where as soon as you put start it up, hear that first music track for the first level (Star Festival) you realize, with a huge smile overtaking your face - "Ohhhh, this is going to be one of THOSE games! Let's do this!"

Super Mario Galaxy 2 - Pretty much everything I said about Galaxy 1 can be copied and pasted here. (Minus the personal, 10/10 Perfect score bit. This game is a 9.6-9.7 for me.)

Super Mario Sunshine - A game that has its admirers and has a lot of good to great things going for it. A solid game in its own right, but when compared to 64 and Galaxy... Yeah, it falls short to say the least. (Though I personally think Sunshine is better than 64.) This game, just as much, if not more, than 64, would benefit the most from the remake treatment. There were a lot of flaws that plagued this particular title back in 2002. F.L.U.D.D. was largely underutilized and I think there's some unexplored groundwork there.

Then, you have 3D Land and/or 3D World are just kind of added bonuses.

And this isn't just any top video game franchise, it's THE top video game franchise.

People who grew up with these titles and remember them fondly, ESPECIALLY the ones who dropped video games a long time ago and haven't played them since... Once they read the headline: "Super Mario 64, Super Mario Galaxy, and more 3D Mario games are getting REMADE for the Nintendo Switch" on Twitter, Facebook, IGN, YouTube, or wherever. They're going to come rushing out in droves. A lot of them who are parents, may be MORE excited than their own kids, who will be playing them for the first time, to play these games again.

Why? Because it's Mario. He's the Mickey Mouse of video games.

To be honest, I'm surprised Nintendo hasn't done this already.

A 3D Mario collection of all these beloved classics would sell more hardware and reach more people than a new 3D Mario game. And now's as good a time as any!
