I sell the company to Microsoft, Alphabet, Alibaba, Tencent, or some other giant behemoth.

Nintendo is doing well. But the reality is that the value of the company has underperformed relative to other tech companies in the same time frame.

On the other hand, you could say that in tendo is not really a tech company. Maybe it's more of a toy company, or an entertainment company.  I don't have a great counter there, except to say that it has underperformed many entertainment companies as well. If we're calling it a toy company, it has performed pretty well.

Performance in revenue or profit? Their profit far outperforms Xbox and PlayStation divisions. They have like $35 billion in cash and assets, last I check years ago (before Switch). The key to Nintendo is they don't spend money loosely and wildly like the other two companies, so they can make a lot more profit off less sold in games and hardware because of it. They are a frugile company, which makes them survive things like complete failures (Virtual Boy, Wii U).
