Its not about whether the leak is out there, its about limiting the number of people exposed to it and I've observed trolls going out of their way to ruin it by putting spoilers under any TLOU2 related content.

There is absolutely nothing lost on the consumer side from sony being extra aggressive with censorship of leaked materials

Dood... they censored their own trailer. That's definitely something lost on the consumer side.

Plus, a lot of these people that are being censored are at the very least potential consumers too. Pissing off potential fans (or most likely existing fans) isn't how you "protect" your fans. It's how you lose them.

That can comfortably be undone, again nothing of meaning is lost. And the benefit far outweigh someone being butt hurt because their TLOU2 meme was removed from twitter. The latter I'm sure represents a tiny fraction of their audience.

For journalists the Embargo ends in 2 weeks. And as far as I'm aware this censorship is simply one of the functions on twitter so people can go about their business on other platforms.

Once this all passes hopefully they will never be in this position again. When was the last time this happened to a video game?
