Right now it is Japan where the Switch is the furthest behind the combined sales of the 3DS and Wii U. Worldwide they are pretty much tied when you align the launches. The 3DS and Wii U were pretty heavily frontloaded, so the Switch should be growing its lead or catching up depending on the country. 

It absolutely should, if they keep going like they have so far, but I'm starting to get really worrying 2011/2016 vibes from their almost total lack of announced games for this year, like maybe they've gone full moron again and pulled support to rush on to a successor.
