No, it would still be a terrible movie. It's not just a bad Godzilla movie, but bad movie, period.
Rich of RLM said it best in their Half in the Bag episdode on the 2 American Godzilla films @16:37: "the 2014 movie has its issues, but what it needed to get right, it got absolutely right. This (G98) doesn't get anything right":
I wouldn't call him the worst, but Roland Emmerich has made mostly terrible films. 10,000 B.C., 2012 and Stonewall were pretty bad, too.
