Mostly because the point of the video is silly. A process showing improvement isn't indicative of an optimal process. Correlation doesn't necessary equate to causality.

The point of the video is that "things are getting worse for the working class" is a myth. In that, it's quite correct.

Is it though?

This is the Gini Index, a measure for inequality. That it is going up means the differences between rich and poor are becoming bigger. This means in the 60s and 70s the economic results were had also more impact among the poorer class, the workers for instance. Nowadays the inequality is on the rise, which means the upper class see benefits from economic growth, but not the lower class and the poor.

Here you see the results of the failing health care system of the US. While life expectancy has risen with the technological progress, the US can't access the full potential seen in other developed countries as the US health care system is broken. You see 20 years ago the US was among other developed countries, but since then life expectancy fell back. So people in the US die earlier just because of the failings of the health care system.

This  graph shows how broken the US health care system is from another angle: the costs exploded. And as you could see the US doesn't even provide health care on a level which is matching other developed countries.

Another pretty real problem: personal debts. As you can see until the 80s the households were able to save more and more. Debts had swings, probably depending on economic situation. But since the 90s debts exploded while savings are now lower than they were just after WWII. This is a real existential crisis for a lot of people.

And why do people think they are left behind? Because they are.
