The Article is said to be incorrect. Here is a twitter feed explaining some of the issues with western reporting.

Information from that Japanese-only Nikkei article on Nintendo from today (https://t.co/GLmkV8YEOg) has led to English-language articles containing errors.
Do not rely on Google Translate for serious journalism or analysis. It doesn't work.
2)
The article is actually about Nintendo's recent history, personnel and current role in the video game industry - and not so much about the Switch.
About the "errors": the Nikkei does say the Lite/portable/smaller model is scheduled for release in the fall + can dock to TVs.
3)
The article describes the other device variant not really as a beefed-up "Pro" but says it will be a "full model change".
There is no mention in the article that there is a "delay". (After all, the device has not been announced yet - how can it be officially delayed?).
4)
There is also no mention of a "problem with power consumption" that many English-language media are now spreading.
(I ran the article through Google Translate and triple-checked, and that part is a real mystery to me.)
5)
Instead, Nikkei says the production of the variant is being "held back".
This is because according to one or more developers (there is no plural in Japanese) the paper spoke to, it is not entirely clear who at Nintendo is leading the concept creation of the device.
6)
In Google Translate, it says "the development of the next-generation model that completely remodels the current model will be postponed."
Once again, this is *incorrect*.
