I sent my pro controller during its first year warranty, and the dutch repair service said it was not an issue, ha ha.

This is my solution for the D-Pad.

Are you sure Nintendo are responsible for this decision?
As far as I can tell, Nintendo are the publishers, but Arika are the developers.

Arika are also fighting game developers (Fighting Layer EX for example), so they're probably very keen on input accuracy.
I don't see why this patch wouldn't have been Arika's own idea.

Nintendo accepted the patch, they know Arika performed a software tweak in the controls.

Sony's dpad is awful. The dpda on the SNES controllers is the best. WiiU pro controller has a very good dpad as well.

WiiU pro controller is quite good, people even switch the Switch's D-Pad with WiiU's.

See, my Pro controller is from a later batch, which has had the D-pad issues massively improved from the original release. So much for them "not doing a physical fix".

Was it really? As I mentioned above Nintendo refused to repair my own Pro controller.

People have a tendency to try and stand out amongst the crowd so they generally have opinions that fall on the extremes (i.e., this d-pad is the best; this other d-pad sucks), when in reality it seems quite trivial to me, as I have no issues using any controller.

Edit: How could a left input result in an up input? Worst case scenario you unintentionally press left+up at the same time, which can be distinguished from an up input. If the developers made it so that an up-left input performs the hard drop, then they need to fix it and make it so that only up will perform the drop. Or am I missing something? I've been playing more of Tetris Effect than Tetris 99 so I don't know how the controls differ.

I exaggerated the title a bit, the d-pad doesn't suck it is just really bad with Tetris, noticed for the first time when I played Puyopuyo Tetris. So I was surprised no one was noticing with Tetris99, but lo and behold this update came up.
