Funny.

Sony has to choices here.

PSP as gaming machine - it gets beaten by Nintendo and DS badly

PSP as media player - it gets utterly abused by Apple and the iPod. Not even funny.

So Sony, which do you want to be? A good second place finish or a laughingstock? Your choice.

Seriously, Nintendo and Apple are laughing at Sony.

Sony is like that sad dude who thinks he gots it going on in public ,but goes home crying, curled up in the fetal position.(when it comes to handhelds)

You know , its actually funny that you are talking again without knowing no straight facts :

The Ipod managed to sell l~ 11 million units in 3 years , while the PSP passed the 30 million mark . So where are you actually getting your numbers from ? I see that Sony actually managed to sell 6 times as many PSPs as Apple managed to sell Ipods . (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Ipod_sales_2008_Q1.svg )

And as a gaming device , like it or not it is the first one that ever managed to get a significant market % from Nintendo , even now heaving almost 1/3 of the entire market ...

So yeas , the PSP went on a different rute , managing to somehow have a different market than the core market of the DS or Ipod , and thats how they managed to ship over 36 million units to date .

Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.

Please learn how to read statistical data correctly.

The Ipod sold 11 million LAST QUARTER ALONE. The quarter before that, it sold 24 million IN ONE QUARTER.

It has to this date sold a minimum of 150 million units, just by roughly adding up the data that is per quarter.

so.....

35 million vs. 150 million? or 35 million vs. 66 million?

You decide.

LMFAO!!!@!

Awesome

You obviously havent read my respons , because if you would have , you would know what I meant by that post . Dont bee so "fast" next time , and take your time readin all posts ;)

FishyJoe : yes , unfortunatly I agree on that one . Sony made a louzy job at securing PSP software sales . PSstore is pathetic , at best , at weekly game updates , especially for the PSP ( and PSone games ) and UMDs a). didnt take off as well as they expected ( saying at least ) b). has absolutly no piracy security . The PSP came out with NO anty-piarcy protection , except a weak software protection ( which comes in the form of Firmware updates ... yes , the ones whom are ususally cracked in less then 24 hours :( ) .

Sony should come up with a better protection system , have much more quality games and finally build a respectable , direct-PSP availible PSstore . If they do this , maybe we wil see some serious software improovements :)
