historically it has sold far better than Zelda, eg smash on the GameCube was the best selling title on the platform even better than any Mario game!

I'd say Zelda isn't even a system seller in Japan while Metroid is very niche, more niche that FE was pre awakening. B tier, smash is, I thought, in Japan. Before BoTW and SSBU happened.

The race between Splatoon and smashU will be interesting to watch...
