I agree with you that it really doesn't matter what Nintendo tells us the Switch is. Like any sensible company they've called it whatever they think will result in the best strategic position and/or profit... Those that think it is what Nintendo tell us it is would do well to google 'marketing'... |
White lies, nothing more really. It's not like they're saying it's a home console but when you get it home there's no way to hook it up to another display of some sort. The price is a minor issue for those who see an XB1, PS4 and Switch, and assume they will get the same type of overall digital experience, not understanding the value they are paying for is the physical portability and not the performance. How many people this ends up being an issue for is likely a very small minority.
PS1 - ! - We must build a console that can alert our enemies.
PS2 - @- We must build a console that offers online living room gaming.
PS3 - #- We must build a console that’s powerful, social, costs and does everything.
PS4 - $- We must build a console that’s affordable, charges for services, and pumps out exclusives.
PRO -%-We must build a console that's VR ready, checkerboard upscales, and sells but a fraction of the money printer.
PS5 - ^ -We must build a console that’s a generational cross product, with RT lighting, and price hiking.
PRO -&- We must build a console that Super Res upscales and continues the cost increases.
